Burp!
We just had a small earthquake. Of course, almost any earthquake that you can feel is only “small” in a relative sense.
This one was just Southwest of us, somewhere off the coast of Baja. It was close enough that it still rattled us nicely. It’s been a while since we’ve had a decent trembler. I had forgotten how freaking scary they are, even the small ones. 5.1 is nothing to shake a stick at, and in the right location (say Mexico City) it could be devastating. It’s probably a good reminder that all those $600,000 plus home around here are built in an earthquake danger zone. It might make you think twice before dumping your kids’ college tuition into a place that could be leveled in a few seconds of random chance earth shifting. Then again, if the fires didn’t scare them off…
